Star Mapper is a Max patch created over a week as my introductory exploration and expression of Max and visual programming. In the patch, players or performers can use the 8 star-sliders to scan a corresponding star across an image of the night sky. As that particular star scans across the night sky, a pitch will be transmitted as it gets closer to it's intended position, ultimately resulting in a "completed" state which includes a really big, really awesome musical chord.
Completed in just a week, Star Mapper showcases a lot of different tools within Max and creates an amusing interaction with
sound and visuals. It doesn't take long to figure out what constellation is being created, but its design is focused on giving players
a simple goal with simple rewards that lead to a changed state. It is an expressive game, with potential to be even more expressive, more
